In existence for over 30 years, the Energy Rating Label is used to compare the energy efficiency and running costs, of different appliances, of the same size.
What Does Energy Rating mean?
The Star rating is about energy efficiency – how energy efficient a model is, or how much energy it uses and the way it uses that energy, compared to other appliances, of the same size.
Most products have between 1 and 6 stars – more stars, means more efficient! More efficient means it might be cheaper to run or uses less energy or uses the energy in a better way, therefore more efficiently. Just because the appliance is cheaper to buy may not mean it has lower running costs. Over time this may really add up!!
Saving money on your energy bills means more money in your pocket – right??
So how can you tell which one may cost less to run? The Energy Rating! And the more stars, the higher the savings!
What does energy consumption mean?
Energy consumption means how much energy an appliance uses – over a period of time. The number of units is directly correlated to the cost per unit. So the less energy an appliance uses, the less it will cost to run. However the rating is based on how “most people” use their appliance. If you use your appliance differently, the amount of energy your appliance uses, may be different to the label.
